In an earlier section we discussed the Triple threat position. If you haven’t read that then I would suggest you go review that area as the stance and many of the fundamentals of the shot are derived from there. To recap:

1. Your feet should be about shoulder width apart.
2. The dominant foot 2-3 inches forward.
3. Feet pointed to the basket.
4. Knees bent with back straight.
5. The ball is held on the pads and fingertips and not in the palm of the hand.
6. The fingers should be spread with the index and middle fingers splitting the air valve.
7. The off hand should be on the side of the ball.
