I'm 14 and i'm having the same problem. I didn't have ankle surgery i've just been lazy this summer. lol, but back to the point. I've been running at least 2 miles everyday. If you play down low a good thing to do is shoot layups with just your right/left hand and rotate them after 10-20 shots. Also you could just work on your foul shots there always good. Try doing shuffles too, just back and forth. Another good thing to do is get together with a group of your basketball buddies and work out that way. My friends and I do that a lot and we seem to get a better work out if we're with each other.

Hope I helped =]

Sounds like some excuses... Ankle surgery in May... that was like 4 months ago almost. If you want to be good, **** it up. Just practice everything with perfect form...do dribbling drills...defensive slides... You can lose weight by RUNNING... if that wasn't obvious enough.

People are losing the ability to think, and their common sense.

Try dribbling the ball around the basketball court 20 times with your right hand and another 20 using your left hand. Practice shooting the ball at the foul shooting area. It can help you to control your shots.

dribble around the court side and end lines switch every 3-5 bounce get to were you can do this with out looking at the ball vary your speed but keep your feet and the ball on different sides of the line. practice bounce passes with a friend practice lay ups and play horse. run the lines till your lungs hurt start at the endline run to the top of the free throw line and back then. to the top of the key and back then to mid court then reverse back to top of key then free throw, rest 30 seconds then repeat do this at least 15 times a couple of times a week. Play horse but require that you dribble and move to the spot. practice your free throws. I suggest this is you only set shot you shoot. for now. follow all you shots and make it a point to get them before they bounce. if the ball bounds away try your best to not let it bounce twice. run slidways yes slide ways best on an out side dirty court or sandy play ground run sideways without crossing over 3-4 steps then slide to a stop and reverse this build alot of strenght in the knee and ankles also teaches you to stay low. if you take these ideas and work them till basket ball tryouts I think you will be very ready to make the team. you need to spend at least 8-12 hours a week doing these things good luck
